Professional Profiles:
Education:
I have an extensive academic and research background in geotechnical engineering. From September 1993 to July 1996, I pursued my doctoral studies in Geotechnical Engineering at Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute. Following this, I completed postgraduate studies at Hohai University from September 1991 to July 1993, where I was recommended directly as a doctoral candidate. Building on this foundation, I engaged in research fellowships in Geotechnical Engineering at Kyoto University from October 1998 to April 2000 and at the Geo-research Institute, Japan, from February 1998 to September 1998. Subsequently, I furthered my expertise as a postdoctoral fellow in Geotechnical Engineering at Laval University from August 2000 to January 2003, the University of Manchester from February 2003 to November 2004, and the University of Nottingham from December 2004 to January 2006. Throughout these roles, I specialized in geomechanics, contributing significantly to the field. My academic journey commenced with undergraduate studies in Hydraulic Structure Engineering at Hohai University, where I graduated in July 1986. These experiences have shaped my comprehensive understanding of geotechnical and hydraulic engineering, fostering a strong foundation for my contributions to the field.
Employment Record:
I have built a diverse and enriching career in geotechnical engineering, starting as an Assistant Professor at Yangzhou University from September 1986 to August 1991. During this tenure, I actively contributed to the academic and research environment, laying the groundwork for my future endeavors. Subsequently, I served as a Geotechnical Engineer at Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute from September 1996 to August 2001, gaining practical insights and applying my expertise to real-world challenges.
In February 2006, I joined Tongji University as a Professor in Geotechnical Engineering, where I have been actively involved in teaching and research for over a decade. This role has allowed me to mentor and inspire the next generation of geotechnical engineers while making significant contributions to the field through my research endeavors.
Academic achievements:
Throughout my career, I have been honored with several prestigious accolades and recognitions, underscoring my significant contributions to the field of geomechanics and geotechnical engineering. In 2019, I had the privilege of delivering the Huang Wenxi Lecture in China, a testament to my expertise and standing in the academic community. In 2016, I was granted a Special Allowance by the central government of China, acknowledging my exceptional contributions to the field. The year 2015 brought further acclaim as I received the 1st Prize for Transportation Science and Technology in Henan Province.
