I obtained my B.Sc. in Chemistry in 1995 from the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Osaka University, Japan. Subsequently, I pursued my M.Sc. in Inorganic and Physical Chemistry, graduating in 1997 from the Department of Chemistry, Graduate School of Science, Osaka University, Japan. Continuing my academic journey, I completed my Ph.D. in Chemistry in 2000, also at Osaka University, with a thesis titled “Studies on structures and electronic states of copper(II) complexes with imidate ligands.” During my doctoral research, I was under the supervision of Prof. Yoshihiko Kushi and Prof. Seiko Komorita. My research involved the preparation of metal complexes, X-ray crystallography, (polarized) electronic spectroscopy, and theoretical calculations using the AOM method.

 

Academic Carrier :

From 2000 to 2002, I served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute for Protein Research, Osaka University, Japan, under the guidance of Prof. Tomitake Tsukihara. During this time, my focus was on the structural biology and bioinorganic chemistry of metalloproteins, with a specific emphasis on conducting X-ray crystallography studies of cytochrome c oxidase.

Following my postdoctoral position, I worked as a Research Associate at the Department of Chemistry, Keio University, Japan, from 2002 to 2007, under the supervision of Prof. Yasuaki Einaga. Here, my research centered on photo-magnetic metal complexes and their applications in nano-scaled functional materials. I specifically investigated Prussian blue analogues and other metal complexes during this period. Additionally, I briefly held the position of Assistant Professor at Keio University from 2007 to 2008.

In 2007, I expanded my research experience by taking on the role of Visiting Scholar at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Humanities and Sciences, Stanford University, USA, under the mentorship of Prof. Edward I. Solomon. During this time, I focused on bioinorganic spectroscopy of multicopper oxidase

Throughout my career, I have been actively involved in various editorial and committee roles in the field of chemistry, contributing to the advancement of scientific knowledge and publication. Here is a summary of my professional contributions:

  • From 1997 to 1999, I served as the Manager of the Young Coordination Chemist’s Association Japan, Kinki branch, where I played a key role in fostering collaboration and networking among young professionals in the field of coordination chemistry.
  • In 2006 and 2007, I served as a Guest Editor for a special issue of Metal Based Drugs, leveraging my expertise to curate and contribute to the publication of research in this area.

I began my professional journey as a Lecturer on August 10, 2004, at the Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí. Following that, I received a scholarship on August 24, 2007. During my tenure, I had the opportunity to update the Laboratory Practice Manual and teach as an Hourly Class Teacher starting from May 22, 2015, focusing on Software Application Programming. From 1991 to 1994, I pursued my undergraduate studies at the Biomedical Engineering Department of Damascus University, Syria, where I focused on research in medical imaging, medical physics, and digital image processing. Subsequently, in 1994-1995, I continued my academic journey at the University of Aberdeen, UK, where I served as an Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Full-Time faculty member in the Department of Bio-Medical Physics and Bio-Engineering. During this time, my focus areas included digital image processing, medical imaging systems, and nuclear medicine.

Returning to Damascus University’s Biomedical Engineering Department in 1999, I continued my academic career as an Associate Professor, teaching courses in digital image processing, medical imaging systems, and computer applications in medical sciences. From 2004 to 2006, I expanded my teaching experience as a Lecturer at the Biomedical Engineering Department of Al-Ahliyya Amman University in Amman, Jordan. Here, I taught courses covering screen-film radiography, nuclear medicine imaging, digital radiography, quantitative analysis of medical images, radiation protection, and essentials of medical imaging.

I have contributed to the field of medical imaging through various publications and presentations. In 2006, I presented a paper titled “Current State of PET/CT Medical Imaging Scanner” at the International Medical Informatics and Biomedical Engineering Symposium (IMIBE’06) held at Yarmouk University. This paper was part of the first Jordanian European Symposium and provided insights into the advancements in PET/CT imaging technology.
